The sophistication of cladding design continues to evolve and contemporary architecture demands cladding systems that are clean with obvious features and multifaceted geometries, furthermore it should strive to achieve a high-performance structure with limited maintenance.

Contemporary cladding assemblies generally consist of boards of one or two widths fixed to upright supports with or without a gap between the boards. If required the open joints between the boards and the air space created between promotes air movement, this allows the cladding to remain dry and alleviates those damp spots which is the killer of any timber, furthermore it aids in promoting durability and good looks.

Rainscreen cladding consists of rhomboid shaped boards equally spaced apart to form a decorative fa├žade. Unlike most other types of cladding rain screen boards are not joined in any way which means that the resulting cladding is not waterproof. Should a waterproof finish be required rain screen cladding must only be installed over a completely watertight surface.

The Rainscreen profile creates a orderly linear look which is ideal for Cladding older buildings or modern new builds, and can be fixed vertically or horizontally producing a highly fashionable contemporary cladding look.

An alternative to traditional cladding Western Red Cedar and Larch delivers durability with stunning looks for boundary cladding, screens, stores, bike sheds, wood stores, car ports etc..

Available in the following timber:-

British Western Red Cedar - Home Grown (UK)

Is among the most popular softwoods used today it's natural resistance to decay and moisture absorption means it can typically be installed without treatment. Rated BS EN 350 class 3 moderately durability, (see about cedar page) and is subject to little movement when installed.

Larch - Home Grown (UK)

Home grown Larch is a viable cladding alternative, as well as the first choice for many. It's a harder timber making it more resistant to impact damage and is more suited than Cedar for structural applications, such as support columns, door frames, window frames.
